What’s this?

About this blog

I am training my speaking voice to go deeper. In this space I will be reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight to you in installments of a few verses. The idea is that this will become a record of my progress in lowering my voice as well as becoming more confident using the voice I find.

I will be reading to you from the text translated by A. S. Kline, which can be found here. I aim to post a couple times a week.

About the text

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a 14th-century poem written in Middle English. It is the exciting adventure of Gawain, a knight of King Arthur’s court.

The translation I’m using is not the best known, but I like it because it really retains the rhythm and alliteration of the original text.
